I. The Main Reasons for Humidifying Packaging Cartons

The core raw materials of cardboard—corrugated paper and kraft paper—are made from plant fibers and are highly sensitive to ambient humidity.

1. Prevent cardboard from becoming brittle and cracking along the score lines. When relative humidity falls below 40%RH, the paper’s moisture content drops from 8%–12% to below 5%, causing the fibers to lose moisture, shrink, and become brittle. This makes it prone to cracking and fraying during die-cutting and creasing, and increases the likelihood of breakage during folding and forming.

2. Eliminate edge warping and deformation: In dry conditions, uneven moisture loss in paper causes edge curling and dimensional shrinkage of 0.3%–0.5%, leading to registration errors in printing and misalignment during lamination, resulting in frequent batch‑level scrap.

3. It atomizes water into ultra‑fine droplets measuring 5–10 microns, which evaporate completely within 1–3 seconds, leaving no standing water or wetting of cardboard boxes.
